A constant feeling of vulnerability, disillusioned, crankiness, anxiety attacks, loss of appetite or gaining weight, insomnia and completely worn out is the usual signs of burnout. Burnout is a state of exhaustion either emotionally, mentally and physically. Burnout is usually caused by prolonged pressure or excessive stress. It comes about when someone feels overwhelmed and not be able to meet the demands.

Burnout is very common to healthcare people most especially to medical assistants. Possibly, it can be due to the constant pressure, long hours of work and the multi-tasking that comes along with their ordinary routine.

In most people, burnout has a harmful effect on people's relationshipship at home and at work. Continued stress can reduce one's productivity. Also, burnout will make the person feeling pessimistic, restless, sarcastic and resentful. It can also cause one’s body to be vulnerable to various illnesses such as colds and flu. Burnout has lots of negative effects on one’s life and it should be managed before it gets worse.

Here are some of the things that a medical assistant should do to manage burnouts:

1. Stay Positive And Give Up Unfeasible Expectations
More often than not, medical assistants deal with patients that are negative, depressed and emotional. One of their responsibilities is to comfort these patients and to keep their hopes up. Most of the time, after being around with this kind of people, medical assistants will tend to absorb all the negative emotions. Also, after they have done all they could do to cheer up patients, still patients have grievances and emotional downfalls. These things frustrate medical assistants and will eventually lead to burnout.

Medical assistants should know how to brush off these negative emotions that they absorbed all throughout the day and should not expect all patients to be comforted by them.

2. Exercise Regularly
One of the most effective ways to eliminate burnout is to have a regular exercise. Simple exercises that most medical assistants can do are jogging, walking and or biking. Doing this everyday will help the body release endorphins which make one feels happy and eliminates negative emotions which most medical assistants absorb on their work.

For sure, routine and regular exercise can greatly improve one's feeling. It eliminates irritability, dismay, hostility, anger desperation and frustrations. Most medical assistants do exercise right after their shift to eradicate those negative emotions and to help them to have a better sleep.

Regular exercise can definitely decrease feeling of dismay and weariness. It helps the body to boost one’s energy, in this way resulting to positive attitude and vibes. Optimism can help medical assistants in improving their performance on their work and increases their productivity.

3. Find Out How To Separate Work From Personal Life
Medical assistants should learn how to leave all work related thing at their work area. From time to time, it is critical to get away from work. Watch a relaxing movie at home or have something to do like a recreation are some of the things that people do to unwind. These activities can serve as escape.

Medical assisting is very satisfying, worthwhile and the same time a very taxing job. It is not as easy as most people believe. Their daunting tasks often lead them to pressure and burnouts. With the tips mentioned above, one can easily fight burnout. Medical assistants are not machine. They too are inclined to stress and burnout. They also need to enjoy their life so that they can be industrious and effective at work.
